I’m no biologist, not a hardcore environmentalist (I still toss the occasional can in the trash instead of recycling bin), and just got my first pair of hiking boots last month. I am just a really big fan of nature and open spaces, because it’s paradoxically outdoors where I most readily access my most inner thoughts. This blog is where I’ll share my trail-inspired musings and hopefully encourage you to visit the places I’ve been!
Despite the notoriously moody weather in Syracuse where I live, I try to get out for a long walk at least once a week. I got into this routine when I began writing a weekly column entitled Free Parking for the Syracuse City Eagle newspaper in August 2008. While my column focused exclusively on city parks, this blog will know no boundaries. If you have an open space you think I should see, let me know!
See you on the trail…
“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.” -John Muir
